Title: Early Childhood Director
Reports to: Lower School Principal
Work Year: 12 months
Position Focus: The Director of Early Childhood Development’s basic function is to supervise the faculty and aides in the Early Childhood classes and the Extended Day Program. The Early Childhood Director reports directly to the Lower School Principal to coordinate the ECD and Extended Day program.

- Subscribe to and promote the statement of faith
- All staff are ministers of Christ.
Position Parameters:
- Provides spiritual and professional leadership to the faculty, staff and school parents
- Role-models Christian behavior and personal growth
- Directs the planning and implementation of chapel services
- Monitors all contractual requirements, spiritual and professional, of faculty/staff members
- Responds to guidance and counseling needs of faculty/staff members, parents and students
- Communicates the school’s educational goals and mission to faculty/staff/parents and monitors their attainment
- Maintains a highly qualified faculty/staff through recruitment, training and performance evaluation
- Oversees all aspects of the daily operation of the Early Childhood department
- Supervises curriculum development implementation and daily instruction relative to the school’s goals and objectives and the requirements of the Florida State Department of Education
- Monitors staff training requirements, personnel files, and daily performance including HRS screening and training, CPR/first aide requirements, lesson planning and student supervision
- Keeps abreast of current educational practices and attends professional conferences/workshops
- Oversee transition of students K to 1st Grade
- Oversees Early Childhood curriculum and Curriculum Mapping
- Assist with Vertical Alignment of ECD to Lower School and developing Professional Learning Community
- Monitors student academic achievement and educational growth/development
- Maintains all standards required for accreditation by all current accrediting bodies
- Enforces all School Board policies and additional regulations/procedures such as outlined in the Parent/Student Handbook and other governing documents
- Attends lower school faculty meetings and assist as needed
- Schedules all extra-curricular programs/activities, special classes, planning periods, chapels, lunch periods, etc. in coordination with the Lower School Principal and lower school schedules
- Develops and controls the Early Childhood department’s annual budget
- Purchases all classroom instructional materials and equipment and approves all other requests for expenditures
- Maintains good communications and public relations with parents so as to ensure a strong home/school partnership
- Conducts semi-annual performance reviews with Early Childhood faculty and staff
- Counsels and disciplines the students in partnership with parents accordingly
- Meets regularly with the Early Childhood faculty and staff
- Represents the Early Childhood department at administrative meetings when requested
Directs the Extended Day Program and monitors all HRS regulations
- Delegates responsibilities/duties to faculty and staff members
- Safety/health standards and procedures
- Staff training requirements
- Plan and schedule all activities of the Extended Day program including school days, vacation days and summer program
- Purchases all necessary materials, supplies, equipment, and refreshments periodically
- Monitors staff training requirements, personnel files, and daily performance including HRS screening and training, CPR/first aide requirements, lesson planning and student supervision
- Maintain all DCF regulations
- Assume all responsibilities delegated by the Lower School Principal to coordinate the ED program
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or related area, and a minimum of 5 years Early Childhood experience
- Teaching certificate in Early Childhood or Elementary education
- CDA and Director’s Credential, preferred
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, communicate and delegate to adults and children
- Strong commitment to uphold and support Cambridge Christian School’s mission and vision statements
- A Christian who is a member of good standing and actively serving in a Bible believing church
Requirement
